Fairview Cemetery is Staunton's largest African-American cemetery located directly across the street from the city's main post office. Located in Fairview Cemetery on Lambert Street in Staunton, is the small late 19th century cottage, known as the Shea House, which was at times the family home of the cemetery's caretaker. Please donate if you are interested in helping the community restore and save this historical house built in 1855.
The Community Foundation of the Central Blue Ridge is administering the Shea House Restoration Fund on behalf of Mount Zion Baptist Church, Augusta Street United Methodist Church, and the Staunton-Augusta County African American Research Society.
